# Transparent Mario Mobiles The Lucent Concept Phone Takes Mobile Gaming to New Heights By Michael Hines | Published 2011-04-09 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucent-concept-phone References: [walyou](http://walyou.com/translucent-cellphone-design/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/mac_fun) Japanese designer Mac Funamizu is known for his innovative tech designs that are often a few years ahead of their time. The [Lucent](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uag-lucent-power-battery) concept phone is another future-forward design that sees Funamizu taking the popular [slider smartphone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noka-7610-5g) and making it transparent. When I say transparent, I don't mean that you get to see the innards of the Lucent concept phone every time you go to send a text message. I mean that you can see through the phone as if you're looking through a piece of glass. The unique design of the Lucent concept phone turns the ordinary into extraordinary. Funamizu has made mundane tasks like opening an email fun by adding Super Mario-inspired features. Mobile gaming as we know it could be forever changed. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself as the Lucent is still a concept. Still, if we have the technology for 3D phones, I believe it's high-time and people should start getting some see-through phones as well. Make it happen guys. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Transparent Phones:** The trend of transparent phones presents opportunities for innovative designs and unique user experiences. - **Slider Smartphones:** The trend of slider smartphones offers potential for creative and customizable form factors in mobile devices. - **Super Mario-inspired Features:** The trend of incorporating Super Mario-inspired features into mobile devices opens up avenues for gamification and enhanced user engagement. ### Where This Applies - **Mobile Technology:** The mobile technology industry can explore and capitalize on the trend of transparent phones and slider smartphones to create disruptive innovations that redefine user expectations. - **Gaming:** The gaming industry can leverage the trend of Super Mario-inspired features to create immersive and nostalgic gaming experiences on mobile devices. - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can tap into the trend of transparent phones to develop cutting-edge, futuristic designs that captivate customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Branded Gaming Hardware Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-phone-concept.md) - [Visible Component Smartphone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nothing-phone-1.md) - [Transparent Aluminum Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nothing-phone-2-concept.md) - [Chic Transparent Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nothing-phone-1.md) - [Sliding Gamer Smartphone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sony-playstation-xperia-smartphone.md) - [Wacky Design Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-phone-experimentation.md) - [Artistic UV-Reactive Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polychromatic-mobile-phone.md) - [Dual-Display Smartphone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-vision.md) - [Gaming Console Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-switch-phone-concept.md)
