# Syringe-Inspired Lamps This Low-Energy Lamp Can Brighten or Dim Whenever the User Wishes By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lowenergy-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/07/06/control-your-own-light/) & [getdimo](http://www.getdimo.com/) This low-energy lamp makes turning it on and off much more fun. The DiMO lamp, designed by Omr & Ortal Menashri has a relatively simple concept -- it works like a syringe and can be pushed in or out to turn the light on and off, or to dim or brighten it depending on the needs of the user. The [minimalist wooden lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp) has two different designs -- one in which the light is controlled by pushing the lever down, while the other works by having the user twist it down. While looking for a [dimming switch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloomlight-s-lamp) on the cord of a lamp is not the most inconvenient activity, this low-energy lamp removes that small inconvenience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Syringe-inspired Lighting:** Designing lamps inspired by non-lighting tools like syringes could be a trend in the lighting industry. - **Simple Yet Interactive Lighting Control:** Designing lamps that allow users to control their brightness and turn on and off in a fun and engaging way could be a trend in the lighting industry. - **Low-energy Lighting:** Designing lamps that consume less energy while providing the same amount of light could be a trend in the lighting industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** The lighting industry could benefit from exploring the design and development of syringe-inspired lamps and exploring more interactive and low-energy lighting control options. - **Furniture and Home Decor:** The furniture and home decor industry could benefit from incorporating these interactive and engaging lamps into their products to add more fun and functionality. - **Healthcare:** The healthcare industry could benefit from exploring the design and development of syringe-inspired lamps as they could add a touch of familiarity and comfort to medical equipment and furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Inflatable Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blow-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Dimmable Dog Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grejsimojs.md) - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Touch-Enhanced Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolita.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [Malleable Connected Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pofu-lamp.md)
