# Plant-Watering Umbrella Stands The LÖV Stand Contains Umbrella Spillage and Waters Plants By Joey Haar | Published 2017-04-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lov-stand References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/lov-lets-you-water-your-plants-while-your-umbrella-dries/) & [jean-huang.space](http://jean-huang.space/) The LÖV stand is a clever piece of furniture that solves two problems at once. People living in cities with high levels of precipitation — around the Pacific Northwest or the United Kingdom, for example — tend to be umbrella connoisseurs. They also tend to know the frustrating mess that umbrellas can make once brought inside after a downpour, leaving rainwater in a small indoor puddle. The LÖV stand clears away those puddles while simultaneously fulfilling another household chore. The [multifunctional umbrella stand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bugle), which was designed by Jean Huang, consist of little more than a ring and a horizontal bar suspended above [two planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planter-300). The trick is that [wet umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbrella-crate-stall), when hung on these hooks, will drip their excess water directly into the plants below. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multifunctional Furniture:** There is a trend towards designing furniture that solves multiple problems at once, like the LÖV stand. - **Sustainable Home Design:** Designing furniture that incorporates sustainable materials and eco-friendly features, like planters in the LÖV stand, is on the rise. - **Innovative Use of Space:** Furniture like the LÖV stand that maximizes space and serves multiple functions in small homes and apartments is becoming more popular. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can incorporate eco-friendly features and multifunctional designs into their products for the environmentally-conscious consumer. - **Home and Garden:** Companies in the home and garden industry can explore incorporating planters and other green features into their products to appeal to consumers interested in sustainable living. - **Interior Design:** Innovative space-saving designs like the LÖV stand can be incorporated into interior design solutions for small apartments and other urban living situations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wall-Mounted Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbrella-1.md) - [Branch-Like Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aghsan.md) - [Artful Sculptural Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella.md) - [Minimal Gridded Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-grid.md) - [Transforming Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-1.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md) - [Disappearing Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coilo.md) - [Umbrella Standpoint Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/standpoint.md) - [Water Catch-Integrated Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere.md)
