This packaging innovation could make bubble wrap a thing of the past. The punched cardboard, which replicates the star-shaped pattern made famous by [Louis Vuitton](http://www.louisvuitton.com/web/flash/index.jspjsessionid=PUBYJMV3G2SMSCRBXUDVAFYKEG4RAUPU?buy=1&langue=en_US&direct1=home_entry_us), provides similar protection by creating a buffer around the item you want to keep safe from banging about.

The cool thing is that the “Paper Wrap” can be made from [recycled cardboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paperseal-pressed) and is in turn [recyclable itself](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sappi-paper-packaging), unlike plastic bubble wrap.

I know it’s not nearly as fun as popping the plastic spheres, but looking at [earth-friendly packaging alternatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elopak-paperboard) like this one designed by Wonjae Lee, Sunkyu Kim and Sangjun Hahn is always a good thing.
