# Poetically Surreal Collages Lorenzo Casu Imposes Spacey Elements onto Common Scenes and Objects By Riley von Niessen | Published 2016-12-05 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lorenzo-casu References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2016/12/04/whimsical-surreal-photo-collages/) & [facebook](https://www.facebook.com/Lore7nzo/) Lorenzo Casu, an Italian [graphic designer and photographer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rhinoceros-gallery1), has a talent for creating incredibly unique imagery that projects a deeper meaning. He most frequently makes use of [natural scenery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-sculptures) in his imagery -- which he combines with elements that would be distinctly out of place in them. For example, one of his creations is set in space -- however an elderly person is shown sitting normally on a wooden bench as they look at their home planet in the distance. To the left, an enormous rubber duck is included -- bringing more color and further adding to the strangeness to the [surreal setting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salvador-dal-collection). Another image depicts a city deep underwater, while a single diver goes down to explore it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Surreal Collages:** Creating surreal collages by combining natural scenery with unexpected elements. - **Imposing Spacey Elements:** Imposing space-themed elements onto common scenes and objects to create a poetic surreal effect. - **Strangeness in Imagery:** Incorporating unusual and out-of-place elements into photographs to evoke a sense of strangeness and wonder. ### Where This Applies - **Graphic Design:** Opportunity for graphic designers to explore surreal collage techniques to create visually captivating and thought-provoking art. - **Photography:** Innovative photography techniques that combine natural scenery with unexpected elements to create unique and narrative-driven images. - **Art and Creative Industries:** Artists and creators can explore the concept of imposing spacey elements onto common scenes and objects to bring new perspectives and evoke emotions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md) - [Surrealist Pop-Up Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surrealist-popup.md) - [Unconventional Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-miami-2024.md) - [Surrealist Beauty Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toiletpaper-magazine.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md)
