With the technical prowess of a [realist painter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition), Paleni depicts scenes that perfectly recreate the feeling of being inside a dream. People and scenery phase and amalgamate into one another in ghostly fashions. Blurred and crisp visuals are placed side by side to create [ocular contrast](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow). Audiences can’t discern what mental state they should imagine themselves to be in while looking at these images, and that’s what makes these paintings special. On a personal level, Lorella Paleni’s painting of a female casually standing in her underwear while witnessing fires engulfing a forest is one of the most arresting visuals I’ve seen in my life. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modern Surrealist Art:** Innovative techniques in modern surrealist art may include the fusion of previously distinct elements into a singular image, which could create opportunities for new artistic styles and approaches. - **Dreamlike Imagery:** Creating dreamlike imagery that surreally blends different environments, perspectives, and emotions through skilled techniques could revolutionize the way people experience art. - **Photorealistic Paintings:** Paintings that mirror the style and quality of photographs through the use of hyperrealistic or photorealistic techniques may continue to be in demand among collectors and enthusiasts. ### Who This Affects Most - **Visual Arts:** Within the visual arts industry, there is room for disruption and innovation in concept, form, and style. - **Advertising:** Advertising firms could experiment with incorporating modern surrealist art styles in their campaigns to create intriguing and memorable visuals that capture attention. - **Interior Design:** Modern surrealist art may inspire creative opportunities for interior designers to create spaces with a sense of surrealism and dreamlike quality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Surrealist Shopping Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreams-is.md) - [Hand-Painted Watercolor Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emma-webster.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Artsy Surrealist Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gohar-world.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Intersecting Dimensional Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diorama.md) - [Immersive Multi-Sensory Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multisensory-exhibition.md)
