We recently featured the creative *[Souvenirs](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/famous-landmarks-replaced-by-cheap-souvenirs)* photography project of Michael Hughes where he replaced famous landmarks with cheap souvenirs. Here we bring you the similarly creative work of Jason E Powell, who counts Hughes’ *Souvenirs* as an inspiration for his photography project, *“Looking Into the Past.”*

According to Jason, the images in *“Looking Into the Past”* are made by “finding [old photographs of places](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animate-old-photos), printing them out, and then holding the print up in the modern day location that the original photograph was taken.”

The historical images are available for free at the [Library of Congress](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-library-at-night), so this idea could be adopted by anyone. I think it would be great to have a special site or flickr group where people all over the world would share such images that showcase how their local neighborhood has changed over time.
