# Polychromatic Exploding Firework Captures The Long Exposures by Davey J Photography are Beautiful By Sarah Robson | Published 2012-08-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/long-exposures-by-davey-j-photography References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/08/unusual-long-exposure-firework-photographs-by-david-johnson/) & [daveyjphoto](http://www.daveyjphoto.com/) The long exposures by Davey J Photography are captivating multicolored captures of exploding fireworks. David Johnson photographed these unique images using an unusual long exposure technique during the annual International Fireworks Show in Ottawa, Canada. Before taking each photo, he would turn the lens so it would be out of focus, and then as soon as he heard a firework go off, he would refocus the lens. This manipulated the fireworks, transforming them into bizarre shapes and sizes that resemble flowers and sea-life creatures. David is an amateur photographer from Ottawa who captures experimental, sports, animals, nature, travelling and abstract photos. These beautiful captures are different from any other type of long exposure, and they illuminate the night sky in a stunning and unusual way. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Long Exposure Photography:** Long exposure photography can create unique and captivating images, offering opportunities for photographers to experiment and create stunning visuals. - **Unconventional Techniques:** Exploring unconventional techniques such as manipulating focus can lead to the discovery of new and mesmerizing effects in photography. - **Abstract Imagery:** Using long exposure to capture fireworks can result in abstract and artistic representations of traditional subjects, presenting new opportunities for creative expression. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Photographers can utilize long exposure techniques to stand out in a crowded market by offering clients unique and visually striking images. - **Event Planning:** Incorporating long exposure photography into events such as fireworks shows can enhance the visual experience and create memorable moments for attendees. - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can draw inspiration from the abstract and captivating imagery created through long exposure photography to create innovative and visually stunning artworks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md) - [Interactive Colorful Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-hockney-bigger-closer.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [Stunningly Intricate Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Multi-Lens Capture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-walker-multi-cam.md)
