# Century-Old Brick Townhouse Expansions Archi-Tectonics Completes the London Solar House By Kalin Ned | Published 2026-05-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/london-solar-house References: [v2com-newswire](https://www.v2com-newswire.com/en/newsroom/categories/residential-architecture/press-kits/7855-01/archi-tectonics-london-solar-house-delivers-compact-richness-as-a-prototype-for-high-density-urban-living) Archi-Tectonics has transformed a two-story century-old brick townhouse in London's Primrose Hill neighborhood into the [London Solar House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/park-house) — a three-story 2,250 square foot home for a family of four. This project figures as "a prototype for high-density urban living." Archi-Tectonics’ intervention doubled the original size of the structure through a multi-faceted roof extension and hovering projections wrapped in a folded zinc-and-glass envelope. The firm installed fully integrated photovoltaic panels on the roof that provide baseline electricity for heat pumps, hot water, lighting, and a 13-kilowatt [Tesla](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-25) battery to charge an electric car. The interior of the London Solar House features a custom-built solid-steel helix staircase that winds from the entrance floor through the double-height living area to the open kitchen and dining level. High-contrast black raw wood cladding, textured stone surfaces, brass mosaics, and precious glass pendants deliver aesthetically pleasing sensibilities.
