# Modernized Instant Film Cameras The 'Lomo Instant Square' Stays True to the Original Design By Ell Smith | Published 2017-08-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lomo-instant-square References: [techcrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/29/go-big-and-go-analog-with-the-lomoinstant-square-camera/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lomography/the-lomoinstant-square-camera/description) Lomography merges the nostalgia of [vintage cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-now1) with the convenience of modern technologies with its newest Polaroid iteration, the '[Lomo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lomo-mca) Instant Square' -- an extension of its current collection of [instant film cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fujifilm-instax-wide-evo). This camera features a more vintage feel than previously, boasting a large frame with distinctive folding bellows that enable access to the lens. The larger size of the camera is able to contain the now-square film pieces, which until previously, were only credit card-sized. Although adorable and wallet-friendly, the smaller size compromised image quality -- an annoyance that the Lomo Instant Square is set on amending. The throwback design will enable users to more creatively curate their surroundings, discovering a new perspective that isn't often seen through the lens of a smartphone camera. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retro Instant Film Cameras:** The 'Lomo Instant Square' camera merges the nostalgia of vintage cameras with the convenience of modern technologies. - **Enhanced Image Quality:** The 'Lomo Instant Square' addresses the compromise in image quality that previous credit card-sized instant film cameras had. - **Creative Curating:** The throwback design of the 'Lomo Instant Square' encourages users to discover a new perspective in curating their surroundings. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Camera Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the camera industry can explore retro instant film cameras as a way to merge nostalgia with modern technology. - **Photography Equipment Retail:** Retailers specializing in photography equipment can benefit from offering enhanced image quality instant film cameras like the 'Lomo Instant Square'. - **Creative Arts and Design:** Professionals in the creative arts and design industry can leverage the 'Lomo Instant Square' to inspire creative curating and unique perspectives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Instant Polaroid Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instax-sq40.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instax-evo-cinema.md) - [Modernized Folding Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextstep-sx100.md) - [Multi-Coated Glass Lens Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lomo-instant-wide-glass.md) - [Chunky Retro Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-flip-instant-camera.md) - [Travel-Ready Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lomography-instant-automat-camera.md) - [Retro-Inspired Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-flip1.md) - [High-End Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-i2.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instax-mini-99.md)
