# Winsome Wood Block Lights The Log Lamp was Designed as a Marriage of Organic and Minimalist Styles By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/log-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/01/07/loglamp/) & [jarinyman](http://www.jarinyman.com/Log-Lamp) There's something very interesting happening in the Log Lamp that quite cleverly brings together two very different conceptual aesthetic notions. With its rigid rectangular geometries, the [exquisite timber piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandscape-lighting) seems to mimic a block of chopped firewood and the glow that it gives off is reminiscent of bright burning embers. On the other hand, the very same clean cut lines and the unembellished faces of the light fixture express a [charming minimalism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design). Often this style and the organic one are too dissimilar to coexist happily in a single object. Nevertheless they do, and Jari Nyman and Olli Mustikainen's Log Lamp has another captivating feature. Its switch is embedded in its structure so that a simple depression of its top turns it on as well as off. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Organic-minimalist Fusion:** The Log Lamp brings together two contrasting aesthetic styles, creating an opportunity for designers to merge organic and minimalist elements in innovative ways. - **Emulation of Natural Elements:** The Log Lamp's resemblance to chopped firewood and the glow of burning embers opens up possibilities for creating lighting fixtures that mimic natural elements in unexpected ways. - **Embedded Switches:** The Log Lamp's embedded switch showcases the potential for incorporating intuitive and seamless control mechanisms directly into the structure of various products. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture and Lighting:** The Log Lamp's fusion of organic and minimalist styles presents an opportunity for designers and manufacturers in the furniture and lighting industries to create unique and visually appealing products. - **Interior Design:** The Log Lamp's innovative design can inspire interior designers to explore new ways of incorporating nature-inspired elements and minimalist aesthetics into their projects. - **Product Design:** The Log Lamp's embedded switch highlights the potential for innovative product designs that seamlessly integrate user-friendly controls into various consumer products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Serene Wooden Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood.md) - [Design-Focused Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul.md) - [Raw Minimalist Pine Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoop-table-lamp.md) - [Wooden Sustainable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Twisting Timber Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-lasercut-wooden-lampshade.md) - [Folded Timber Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatpack-timber-lamp.md)
