# Mountainous Landscape Sofas This Living Room Sofa is Inspired by a Classic Work of Art By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2018-07-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-room-sofa References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2018/07/13/seating-thats-inspired-by-nature/) Small living spaces often need to be multifunctional without compromising on looks, so this living room sofa has been created to help offer a balance of fashion and form for consumers to enjoy. Inspired by the classic Chinese painting 'Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains of Yuan Dynasty,' the sofa features a mountainous design that transforms the cushions and backrest into a series of landscape-inspired accents. The unit is integrated with a built-in table for placement of small decor items or to rest refreshments, which makes it a perfect spot for relaxing or meditating after a long day. The living room sofa is the design work of Zhenyi Chen and Jian Chen, and sports enhanced ergonomics to ensure optimal comfort in whatever it's used for. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multifunctional Living Spaces:** Opportunity for furniture designers to create innovative pieces that offer a balance of fashion and function in small living spaces. - **Nature-inspired Design:** Potential for incorporating nature-inspired elements into furniture designs, enhancing aesthetics and creating a sense of tranquility. - **Integrated Functionalities:** Opportunity to integrate practical features into furniture designs, such as built-in tables, to enhance convenience and usability. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities for interior designers to create unique and functional furniture pieces for small living spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity to offer nature-inspired furniture designs that can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of living spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Potential for furniture manufacturers to incorporate practical features into their designs, such as built-in tables, to cater to the needs of modern consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Flexible Landscape-Like Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airberg-sofa-collection.md) - [Snowfall-Inspired Sofa Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowhouse-sofa.md) - [Organically Shaped Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repose-sofa.md) - [Modular Triangular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moooi-peaks-sofa.md) - [Cocoon-Like Multifunctional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usofa.md) - [Laidback Modular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natuzzi-bao.md) - [Stacked Pebble-Like Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/figure-sofa-and-lounge-chair.md) - [Organic Contour Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siwa-sofa.md)
