# Living Curtains Living Plant Curtains from Li Fan are the Greenest Your Windows Can Get By Michael Hines | Published 2010-04-27 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-plant-curtains References: [odditycentral](http://www.odditycentral.com/news/home-design-doesnt-get-much-greener-than-living-plant-curtains.html) Living Plant Curtains are proof that plants are plotting to overthrow mankind. Why else would they want to be hung on our windows? Chinese inventor Li Fan is the architect of our destruction. Living plant curtains are self-sufficient plants connected to a mesh support. They act just like regular curtains, but they have some extra powers due to their green nature. These curtains suck impurities out of the air and never need to be cleaned. Plants that I never have to tend to *and* curtains that never need to be cleaned? Sounds like a win to me. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Living Plant Curtains:** The rise of Living Plant Curtains presents a potential for startups in Biotech Innovation. - **Self-sustaining Plants:** The popularity of Self-Sustaining Plants can lead to disruptive opportunities in the Retail Industry. - **Air-purifying Curtains:** The trend towards Air-Purifying Curtains could lead to opportunities in the Home Improvement Industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Biotech Innovation:** Living Plant Curtains, with its unique approach to indoor agriculture and air purification, could offer both opportunities in creating sustainable products as well as possibilities for cleaning up the environment. - **Retail Industry:** The emergence of Self-Sustaining Plants can offer an opportunity for design stores to innovate in interior decor while introducing consumers to a more sustainable way of living. - **Home Improvement Industry:** Air-Purifying Curtains could introduce innovations in textiles, smart home and automation technology to enhance home air quality and reduce the use of traditionally harmful cleaning products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Curtain Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curtain-robot.md) - [Plant-Cultivating Home Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-4.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vegetment-vegetable-cultivator.md) - [Plant-Supporting Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/florapur-air-purifier-concept.md) - [Draped Plant-Design Shopping Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calwer-passage.md) - [Plant-Powered Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neo-px-air-purifier.md) - [Artsy Hanging Plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-air-plant-mobile.md) - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md) - [Plant-Powered Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/decorative-air-purifier.md)
