# Crooked Bookcases Lisa Sandall Creates a Slanted and Stylish Storage Unit By Rachel | Published 2009-08-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lisa-sandall-storage References: [coroflot](http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_file.asp?portfolio_id=2663858&individual_id=282006) Designer Lisa Sandall thought there was too much unnecessary bending when reaching for a book from a bookshelf, so she tilted it and created the Chin Up Storage Unit. The Chin Up Storage Unit design by Lisa Sandall is funny looking, as it is crooked and doesn’t quite fit our regular idea of a bookcase, but the design is super smart for [media storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life). Looking for a movie on a bottom shelf is usually impossible, so if Chin Up helps with that, I’m cool with a [crooked design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilt-planter). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Slanted Storage:** Opportunity for designers to create unconventional storage solutions that offer easy access to items without the need for bending or reaching. - **Smart Media Storage:** Innovations in media storage systems that use unique designs to make it easier to locate and access movies or other media. - **Unconventional Bookcases:** Increased demand for bookshelf designs that break away from traditional, straight structures and offer a unique aesthetic while still being functional. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to create innovative and functional storage solutions for various purposes. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating unconventional bookcases into interior design projects to add a touch of uniqueness and functionality to living spaces. - **Media Storage:** Developing improved media storage systems that provide easier access to movies and other media, enhancing convenience for users. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md)
