# Retractable Lint Rollers 'Flint' is a Travel-Sized Lint Roller That Collapses into a Small Tube By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-06-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lint-roller References: [red-dot.sg](http://www.red-dot.sg/en/online-exhibition/flint/) While there are both full- and [travel-sized lint roller designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/schick-hydro-silk-mini-razor) on the market, 'Flint' is the name of an innovative model that's designed to be ultra-compact. When retracted, the Flint boasts a size that's about 50% smaller than the average household lint roller. For use, the inner lint roller can be extended to twice this length, making it easier to capture a larger surface area of lint. One of the other key ways that Flint sets itself apart is with a refillable interior system that discourages a greater number of sheets from ending up in the landfill. By protecting the inner adhesive papers, Flint's [retractable sheath](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexline-67w) also extends the number of times that an individual sheet can be used. In order to appeal to a wide range of consumers, Flint comes in an [assortment of colors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollr). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ultra-compact Lint Rollers:** The trend of smaller, more portable lint rollers that are easy to carry and store. - **Refillable Lint Roller Systems:** The trend of lint rollers with refillable interior systems that reduce waste and increase reuse. - **Color Variety in Lint Rollers:** The trend of offering lint rollers in a wide range of colors to appeal to diverse consumer preferences. ### Where This Applies - **Household Cleaning Products:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the household cleaning products industry by developing smaller, refillable, and aesthetically appealing lint rollers. - **Travel Accessories:** The travel accessories industry can capitalize on the trend of ultra-compact lint rollers to offer convenient and space-saving solutions for travelers. - **Sustainability and Waste Reduction:** The sustainability industry can leverage the trend of refillable lint roller systems to promote waste reduction and reusable product designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Slim Collapsible Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slim-luggage.md) - [Travel-Friendly Garment Care Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenor-crease-releaser.md) - [Refillable Stain-Removing Pen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallow-ash-1.md) - [Rapidly Retractable Multi-Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retractable-multitool.md) - [Paper-Saving Printer Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roller-jet-printer.md) - [Collapsible Space-Saving Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jollying-pebble-suitcase.md) - [All-Metal 4-In-1 EDC Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flintone.md) - [Convenient Checklist Pads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/checklist-sticky-roll.md) - [Collapsible Titanium Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kif-toothbrush-kit.md)
