# Curvaceous Linoleum Furniture The 'Linoleum' Furniture Collection by Lina Chi is Playful By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2022-12-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linoleum-furniture-collection References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2022/12/02/this-collection-of-curvy-furniture-pieces-made-from-linoleum-gives-the-material-a-new-identity/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=this-collection-of-curvy-furniture-pieces-made-from-linoleum-gives-the-material-a-new-identity) The 'Linoleum' furniture collection has been designed by Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Lina Chi as a curvaceous range of pieces that rethink what's possible with the namesake material. The furniture is achieved using linoleum with a jute backing, which has been rolled, cut and formed into pieces that are as functional as they are artistic. The collection includes two stools, a bench and a low table, which all transform perceptions of what's possible with linoleum. The 'Linoleum' furniture collection was created in collaboration with UK-based flooring brand Forbo to help push the boundaries of what's possible with linoleum. The pieces are thus naturally water and fire-resistant, while also being durable enough to withstand the weight of a person. The pieces were created in a heated room to allow the material to be manipulated more easily. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 14% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Curvaceous Furniture Design:** Designers can experiment with different materials to create playful and functional furniture designs. - **Sustainable Furniture:** Using sustainable materials, such as linoleum, can lead to new and innovative furniture designs. - **Collaborative Product Development:** Collaborating with companies in related industries can lead to creative and functional product designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore creating linoleum furniture collections that are both functional and artistic. - **Flooring Manufacturing:** Flooring manufacturers can develop new applications for linoleum, such as furniture design, to push the boundaries of the material. - **Sustainable Materials:** Companies that focus on developing sustainable materials can work with furniture designers to create innovative and eco-friendly products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Housing Color Palettes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-linoleum-collection.md) - [Recyclable Linoleum Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lino-materiale.md) - [Versatile Remolded Linoleum Tiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaxwood.md) - [Glue-Free Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linumtube.md) - [Wooden Textural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corrugated-furniture.md) - [Wire-Accented Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/line-series-furniture.md) - [3D-Printed Recycled Material Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loom-furniture-collection.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Upcycled Waste Material Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-furniture-design.md)
