# Ink Splatter Architecture The Linkong SOHO Building Will Have You Zip-Zagging Through Its Hallways By Jason Soy | Published 2011-05-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linkong-soho-building References: [bbcicecream](http://bbcicecream.com/blog/2011/05/24/linkong-soho-building/) & [zaha-hadid](http://www.zaha-hadid.com/offices-and-towers/hongqiao-soho) This Linkong SOHO Building concept may not exist yet, but the design has already been bought by [SOHO China](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sessile) and these pictures alone have got architects everywhere in an uproar. Designed by Zaha Hadid of [Zaha Hadid Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-office), the Linkong SOHO Building design has an aerial view that I can best describe as resembling a [metallic ink splatter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ink-ink-food-market). It literally looks as though someone took an image into Photoshop, used the smudge tool to distort the picture and then a bunch of people decided to build the strange results. I may have come off as disapproving of the Linkong SOHO Building design, but I actually love it! If I manage to scrounge up the funds, you can bet that I'd be the first on a flight to China to check out this architectural wonder. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Ink Splatter Architecture:** Designing buildings with unconventional and abstract shapes inspired by ink splatters offers a unique and eye-catching design aesthetic. - **Unorthodox Architectural Designs:** Architects are pushing boundaries by creating buildings that challenge traditional design principles and embrace innovative and unexpected shapes. - **Integration of Art and Architecture:** Blurring the lines between art and architecture, designers are incorporating artistic elements into building designs to create visually stunning and expressive structures. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architectural firms can explore new opportunities by embracing unconventional designs and offering clients unique and visually striking buildings. - **Real Estate Development:** Real estate developers can differentiate their projects by partnering with avant-garde architects to create one-of-a-kind buildings that attract attention and set them apart in the market. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** The integration of innovative and visually captivating architectural designs can attract tourists and enhance the overall experience of hospitality establishments, offering a competitive advantage in the industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glass Facade Premium Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-office.md) - [Sweeping Culture Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/river-culture-and-art-centre.md) - [Wave-Like Structural Art Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zibo-oct.md) - [Ribbon-Like Dynamic Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capital-international-exhibition.md) - [Ultra-Colorful High-Density Residential Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design.md) - [Terraced Urban Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/go-park-sai-sha.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-art-garden.md) - [Lotus Plant-Inspired Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-future.md) - [Swooped Museum Roof Planes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suzhou-museum-of-contemporary-art.md)
