# Black Ribbon Buffets The Lima Lima Table Extends and Separates to Define Space By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-04-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lima-lima-table References: [bornrich](http://www.bornrich.com/entry/the-lima-lima-carbon-fiber-table-has-looks-and-functionality/) & [carbonfibergear](http://www.carbonfibergear.com/a-versatile-carbon-fiber-table-from-israel/) Your raised surface needs may be met with a simple square counter, but the Lima Lima Table offers any interior so much more. The fluid piece of furniture is a combination of [four separate segments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair) that can be placed adjacent to one another, or arranged as individual elements in different rooms. Looking much like magnified parentheses, each [sinuous strip](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table) is made of medium-density fiberboard and coated in a high-gloss black carbon fiber. Elegant, elongated forms are created by each ribbon that embody lissom simplicity when standing alone, or curvaceous complexity when layered together. The Lima Lima Table functions gracefully as a [hall table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table) or as display pieces to hold flower vases, clocks and decorative home accessories, all the while adding its own aesthetic embellishment to the space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modular Furniture:** Expanding and customizable furniture pieces offer opportunities for flexible and adaptable interior design solutions. - **High-gloss Finishes:** Sleek and glossy finishes are in demand, providing a modern and sophisticated aesthetic to furniture and decor. - **Multi-functional Pieces:** Versatile furniture designs that serve multiple purposes allow for space optimization and practicality. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Innovative furniture designers can create modular pieces that can be reconfigured to suit varying spatial needs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate high-gloss finishes to create sleek and contemporary spaces. - **Home Accessories:** Manufacturers of home accessories can explore multi-functional designs that serve both decorative and practical purposes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ribbon-Inspired Curvaceous Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ribbon-collection.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Haute Waterlily-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lilypad-table.md) - [Colorful Contemporary Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-tables.md) - [Acrylic Multicolor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucid-side-tables.md) - [Slender Geometric Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Geometric Table Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solis-collection.md)
