# Bookshelves for Bookworms Lili Lite Turns Off When You Place An Open Book on Shelf By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2008-12-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lili-lite References: [blog.2modern](http://blog.2modern.com/2008/12/lili-lite.html) & [lililite](http://www.lililite.com/epages/61793772.sf) The [Lili Lite](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lili-tile) is great for lazy bookworms like me who don’t always have a bookmark handy. It’s a bookshelf with a reading light that goes over your bed or reading area. When you place an open book on the shelf, the light automatically turns off. When you pick up the book to keep reading where you left off, the light turns on. The Lili Lite is designed by [Studio Smeets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf). You can check out other bookshelves that employ books as their primary design component below. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Smart Bookshelves:** Opportunities for incorporating advanced technology into bookshelves and reading accessories. - **Sustainable Bookshelves:** Designing eco-friendly bookshelves and using renewable materials to reduce environmental impact. - **Multi-functional Bookshelves:** Combining bookshelves with other furniture pieces to maximize space and functionality. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Industry:** Incorporating technology and sustainable materials into the design and production of bookshelves. - **Lighting Industry:** Producing innovative lighting solutions that can be integrated into bookshelves and reading areas. - **Interior Design Industry:** Creating multi-functional and space-saving bookshelves that complement various interior design styles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Convenient Book Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/android-book-light.md) - [Tech-Charging Book Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haaase-liesma-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Shaped Transparent Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bookmark.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Industrial Light-Equipped Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-light-chair.md) - [Music-Playing Book Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-book-stand.md) - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md) - [Light-Equipped Reading Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dasung.md) - [Book-Holding Bedside Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedside-speaker.md)
