# Crumbled Concrete Lighting The Minimalist 'Like Paper Lamp' Has Kinks and Crinkles By Meghan Young | Published 2012-04-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/like-paper-lamp References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/LIKE-PAPER/3492577) & [dua-collection](http://www.dua-collection.com/) The Like Paper lamp is named so for a reason. Although the lampshade has been made to look crafted out of [crumbled sheets of paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti), it has actually been formed out of something a lot less forgiving: concrete. Designed by Miriam Aust and Sebastian Amelung for DUA, the Like Paper lamp has a [simple aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape) in spite of the deliberate kinks and crinkles. Its all-white palette and grey electrical cord helps it to blend into equally [minimalist living spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp) while standing out in colorful, eclectic ones. Since they are handmade, each Like Paper lamp is as unique as a snowflake. No two light fixtures have the same indents, edges and creases. They will add character to any home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Crumbled Concrete Lighting:** Handmade concrete lighting fixtures with deliberately imperfect textures and designs. - **Minimalist Lighting Design:** Innovative lighting that seamlessly blends into understated interior decor. - **Unique Handmade Lamps:** Customized lamp designs that add a personal touch to spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Concrete lighting fixtures that have both practical and decorative applications for homes of all sizes. - **Interior Design:** Innovative lighting solutions to match the style and aesthetic of any living space. - **Handmade Furniture and Decor:** Unique and bespoke lighting fixtures that could complement a host of customized furniture designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Blooming Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kazuhiro-yamanaka-tsubomi-lamp.md) - [Organic Paper-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farolito.md) - [Paper-Inspired Half-Folded Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/half-lamp.md) - [Urban Debris-Crafted Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remli.md) - [Recycled Paper Pulp Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-lamp1.md) - [Posh Paper Craft-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japandi-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Origami-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-lamp.md)
