# City Light-Mimicking Chandeliers LIGHTzeit by Markus Kayser Channels the Effects of the Sun By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightzeit-by-markus-kayser References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1670050/a-chandelier-that-recreates-sunset-in-london-or-an-afternoon-in-tel-aviv) & [markuskayser](http://www.markuskayser.com/) Every city has its own unique allure, from its culture to its natural beauty; LIGHTzeit by Markus Kayser harnesses the latter to become a [breathtaking chandelier fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier) that ultimately mimics the effects of the sun around the world. From a sunset in London to an afternoon in Tel Aviv, it brings a piece of each section of the world to a particular space. LIGHTzeit by Markus Kayser was commissioned by W Hotels as part of their Designer of the Future Award. Mounted on a rotating fixture, the fluorescent tube may look unassuming, but as it slowly rotates, the tone and brightness of the light change to mimic the natural conditions outside. According to [Fast Co Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-outdoor-furniture), "The tube will have made a full 360-degree revolution by the time the day is over." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **City Light-mimicking Chandeliers:** The trend of incorporating natural lighting effects into contemporary light fixtures can extend beyond chandeliers. - **Environmental Lighting:** There is a trend towards incorporating natural environmental features into lighting design and products to create unique and personalized experiences. - **Smart Lighting:** Integrating lighting with internet of things technology to create responsive and adaptive lighting solutions is an emerging trend in the lighting industry. ### Where This Applies - **Hospitality:** Hotels and resorts can create unique and immersive experiences for guests through the use of innovative lighting fixtures and designs. - **Architecture and Interior Design:** The trend of incorporating natural lighting effects and environmental themes in lighting design can inspire creative solutions in architectural design, interior design, and other related industries. - **Consumer Lighting Products:** The trend of creating customized and adaptive lighting experiences can offer opportunities for companies producing consumer lighting products to target audiences looking for unique and personalized lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Evening Sky-Inspired Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evening-sky.md) - [Chic Cyberpunk Sunset Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-sunset-lamp.md) - [Sunlight-Mimicking Panelled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunne-lamp.md) - [Window-Emulating Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/window-chronicles.md) - [Dynamic Artful Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-chandelier.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Ethereal Oil Lamp Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-realm-of-light.md) - [Sun-Lit Kite-Inspired Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cygnet-light.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md)
