# Sea-Worthy Homewares The Lightweights Anchor Acts as a Grounded Support For Suspended Fixtures By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightweights-anchor References: [hvhinteriors](http://www.hvhinteriors.com/2011/11/great-design-ideas-by-hello-sailor.html) & [hellosailor.dk](http://www.hellosailor.dk/lightweights) The lovely suspended look of [pendant lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light) is made possible by gravity, and a force with which one can have a bit of fun when it comes to decorating interiors. The Lightweights Anchor is a whimsical object that stresses the balancing act of your light fixture and its point of support by replacing the ceiling mount with a load that's much lower. Jonas Loenborg, of his own design company [Hello Sailor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hello-kitty-x-converse), playfully adapted what might have been a standard weight into a [gleaming cast steel sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prose-light) of an iconic ship anchor. The nautical lighting accessory is complete with a bowed base, a crossed top and a chain loop, with the latter large enough to be threaded with the end of a power cord. The stationary Lightweights Anchor keeps a hanging lamp in place, yet permits one to pull in or let out some slack in the cable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Gravity-defying Fixtures:** Opportunity for designers to explore new ways of creating and supporting pendant lamps through unconventional methods. - **Whimsical Load-bearing Objects:** Possibility for manufacturers to create unique, decorative and functional load-bearing fixtures that adds an aesthetic value to the space it occupies. - **Functional Sculptures:** Trend for artists and designers to create sculptures that serve a practical purpose, thereby bridging the gap between art and function. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** An opportunity for interior designers to incorporate unconventional fixtures into their projects that add an artistic and functional element to the space. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore new designs and materials to create load-bearing fixtures that serve a dual purpose in adding value to homes and commercial spaces alike. - **Sculpture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for sculpture manufacturers to expand their market by creating sculptures that serve a practical function, adding value to both art and functional spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Nautical-Inspired Warm LIghting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/booi.md) - [Luxurious Sculptural Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-candle-holders.md) - [Metaphorically Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bilanciato-pendants.md) - [Monkey Knot-Integrated Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-knot-pendant-lamp.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Interchangeable Magnetic Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/docklight.md)
