A beautiful, design-forward, and secluded lightweight home is taking up space in the rural countryside of France. Created by Paris-based studio [Ciguë](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/12-matcha-caf), the silhouette of the building forms a stark contrast with the surrounding area—both in the sense of nature's greenery, as well as in the structural sense—the lightweight home subtly contrasts other buildings in the area that feature a more traditional stone facade.

The lightweight home by Ciguë is dubbed The Wooden House. The structure is relatively simple. It is clad in [blackened timber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clt-house) which highlights an elegant aesthetic. The [foundations that elevate the home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/columbia-river-valley-lookout) and even out the terrain for the structure are made out of steel. In order to complete this design, the firm referenced houses built in 1960s California.
