# Starry Satellite-Like Lighting LightSpace by Jade Doel is Full of Captivating Warmth By Meghan Young | Published 2013-01-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightspace-by-jade-doel References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/01/08/defining-lighting/) & [jdd.co.nz](http://www.jdd.co.nz/) LightSpace by Jade Doel, a product and furniture designer based in Dunedin, New Zealand, is a visually striking [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light) that might be manmade, but beautifully embodies the essence of nature. Warm and expansive, it stretches above a room like a [constellation of stars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-bulb). Nevertheless, the light fixture doesn't try to hide its true nature. Instead, it embraces it with a satellite-like aesthetic that is just as captivating as the night sky. Ideal for dining rooms, LightSpace by Jade Doel not only establishes a welcoming ambiance, it also serves as an [acoustic dampener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/echoes-of-the-deep) for table conversation. Made out of American ash, industrial wire cabling as well as acrylic and Echopanel LED segments, the designer likens it to a person: "It can be soft, warm, direct and even flashy." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Satellite-like Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new materials and technologies to create pendant lights that mimic the beauty of the night sky. - **Nature-inspired Designs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate organic elements and forms into furniture and product designs to create visually striking and captivating pieces. - **Acoustic Lighting Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop lighting fixtures that not only provide illumination but also enhance acoustic environments, such as dining rooms, by acting as acoustic dampeners. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Reimagine pendant lighting designs to create unique and awe-inspiring lighting solutions for home and commercial spaces. - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate organic materials and nature-inspired aesthetics into furniture designs to create visually captivating and nature-embracing pieces. - **Acoustic Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine lighting and acoustic technologies to develop innovative solutions that improve both the visual and acoustic experience in various environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Astro-Inspired Sculptural Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elara-suspension.md) - [Moon-Inspired Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lua.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Intricate Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light.md) - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Soft Sculptural Illumination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spark-acoustic-light.md) - [Evening Sky-Inspired Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evening-sky.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Solar System-Inspired Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmooval.md)
