Lightors batteries aim to reduce [electronic waste](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leadacid-batteries) by changing the way you recharge your AA and AAA batteries. These batteries are recharged via USB, not a charging unit that plugs into a wall or other device. The result is a set of batteries that can be recharged by any device with a USB port.

Lightors batteries have an internal charging port that accepts a micro-USB cable. The batteries can be recharged up to 500 times. Recharging batteries the conventional way isn't hard, but in this day and age it does seem a bit silly to have to buy a [standalone charger](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/al-charger) to do so. Lightors solves that problem, and will hopefully cut down on the number of batteries that wind up in landfills. Lightors (also the name of the company) has smashed its [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automotive-charger) funding goal, meaning these batteries should be available sooner rather than later.
