# Bioluminescence Night Lights The 'LUME' Lighting Solution Provides Natural Illumination By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-09-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighting-solution References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/09/23/avatar-esque-lighting/) The modern living space is packed full of technology, so the 'LUME' lighting solution looks to enable a touch of nature to be infused back in. The 'LUME' conceptual lamp features a [bioluminescent plant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biophilic-lighting) on the interior of the glass compartment that will glow to provide soothing illumination that doesn't require a bulb. The 'LUME' connects to a user's smartphone to let them know if the [moisture, light and soil levels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planto) are up to par to ensure the plant is enabled to thrive. The plant container device would enable consumers young and old to maintain a sense of wellness in their home, while also allowing for a bit of [natural illumination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-gardening-1). The 'LUME' lighting solution is the design work of Christopher Kötting and Lukas Uhlitz. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bioluminescence Lighting:** The use of bioluminescent technology in lighting design creates an opportunity for energy-efficient, natural lighting solutions. - **Smart-connected Indoor Gardening:** The integration of smart technology with indoor gardening devices offers an opportunity to monitor and optimize plant health for a seamless user experience. - **Eco-friendly Home Decor:** The demand for eco-friendly and sustainable home decor offers opportunities to incorporate innovative, biodegradable materials and natural elements into design solutions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Industry:** The lighting industry can embrace bioluminescent technology to offer innovative and sustainable lighting solutions for homes and commercial spaces. - **Indoor Gardening Industry:** The indoor gardening industry can expand by incorporating smart technology and bioluminescence into their product offerings, providing consumers with tools for sustainable living. - **Home Decor Industry:** The home decor industry can meet the demand for eco-friendly and sustainable products by integrating natural elements and bioluminescent technology in their designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ambient Grow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-ambient-grow-light.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Organic Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lapso.md) - [Biophilic Garden Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-organism-lights.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md) - [Posh Plant-Supporting Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ample-plant-light-n1.md) - [Plant-Based Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantbased-lamp.md) - [Money Plant-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pilea-lamp.md) - [Nature-Inspired Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biomes-lighting.md)
