Yoshioka used thick cut, highly transparent glass to make the chairs; the edges of the chair are cut in a way that bends light to create a wide spectrum of colors across the surfaces. Yoshioka says, "this creation will be a chair like a shimmering sculpture." The design, which is transparent in nature, will spread a blanket of rainbow colors on near surfaces and throughout itself. The design is simple and elegant. Yoshioka used four thick rectangular sheets of glass with beveled edges facing inwards to create the chair. The chairs will be presented alongside the reflective glass [Prism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prisma-collection) table he also designed for Glas Italia. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Light-refraction Seating:** Opportunity to incorporate innovative materials to create visually stunning furniture pieces. - **Transparent Furniture:** Opportunity to explore designs that incorporate glass or other transparent materials. - **Rainbow Accent Furniture:** Opportunity to capitalize on the trend of colorful, eye-catching furniture pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to explore innovative materials and design concepts to create visually stunning, unique pieces. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies have an opportunity to incorporate colorful and visually striking accent pieces, such as the Prism chairs, into their product lines. - **Interior Design:** The glass Prism chairs and table offer interior designers a unique opportunity to incorporate colorful, light-refracting accent pieces into their designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colour Shift Clear Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/color-roller.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Water Ripples-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-ripples-chair.md) - [Futuristic Rooftop Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ls24-lounge-system.md) - [Curvaceous Painted Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glits-rainbow-lounge.md) - [Marbles-Inspired Intricate Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shepherd-studio.md) - [Glass Geometry Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-collection.md) - [Colorful Modern Glass Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soda-side-table.md) - [Acrylic Multicolor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucid-side-tables.md)
