# Purpose-Shifting Lamps Light Object by Wesley Dudok Changes Illumination for Work and Play By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-object References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/switch-easily-work-play-light-object/) & [wesleydudok.nl](http://www.wesleydudok.nl/) The Light Object is a [versatile light fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivoting-lamps-collection) that adheres to a rather [simple design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allen-key-lamp). It boasts a [geometric aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drape-light) that can be shifted to a number of positions, shedding a certain amount of illumination based on the activities on hand. If working, more light can be accessed by place the light source of the Light Object outwards while playtime is encouraged by turning it away towards a wall. Designed by Wesley Dudok, a recent graduate hailing from the Netherlands, the Light Object adheres to his design philosophy. As written on his website, "He states that it has to be understandable, simple and well measured. With an artistic twist in aesthetics, a product can be long-lasting and fashionable." That is exactly the case with the Light Object. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Versatile Light Fixtures:** The demand for light fixtures that can adapt to different activities and settings creates opportunities for versatile and customizable lighting solutions. - **Geometric Aesthetics:** Geometric designs and shapes in lighting fixtures can offer a modern and stylish option for consumers. - **Task-specific Lighting:** Light fixtures that can adjust their brightness and direction according to specific tasks can provide consumers with a more efficient and personalized lighting experience. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting and Home Decor:** The lighting and home decor industries can benefit from creating versatile and customizable lighting solutions with modern and geometric designs that cater to different activities and settings. - **Interior Design Services:** Interior design services can incorporate modern and customizable lighting solutions as part of their services to provide clients with personalized and efficient lighting experiences. - **Smart Home Technology:** The development of task-specific lighting solutions can be further integrated into smart home technology, offering consumers a more seamless and customized lighting experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Weighted Multi-Position Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desk-lamp-design.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Dynamically Customizable Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illum-desk-light.md) - [Storage-Friendly Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md)
