This lamp was created by Reima Honkasalo to remind us all of the [wasted cords](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-gem) we have plugged in around the house. A cord that is plugged into an outlet is still draining power from the grid even when it isn't in use, giving rise to the term "[electricity vampire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbox-power-strip)." The Light Mincer Lamp shows just how many appliances go into making one light bulb turn on. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 65% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Energy Efficiency:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in developing products and technologies that reduce energy wastage. - **Smart Home Technology:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating devices that automate power usage and optimize energy consumption. - **Sustainable Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing environmentally conscious products to address the issue of energy wastage. ### Who This Affects Most - **Electronics:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in developing energy-efficient devices and appliances. - **Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating energy-efficient lighting solutions and smart lighting systems. - **Home Automation:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in developing smart home systems that optimize energy usage and reduce wastage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glowing Power-Free Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nisshoku.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Modern Marble Waste Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sole-lamp.md) - [Pencil Shaving-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharpener-lampshades.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Energy-Saving Minimalist Desktop Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desktop-lamp.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md) - [Glowing Organic-Waste Sustainable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lanova-terra.md)
