This domed desk lamp is a [contemporary revival of a retro aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joe-colombo) made popular during the 60s and 70s. The Light Drop lamp from Pulpo is made out of a combination of a cork base and a [hand-blown glass surrounding shade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa) that is topped off with a [perforated metal plate element](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp). This accent element is available in both a choice of a copper and powder-coated white grey finish along with the lamp's blue, clear and violet glass hues. Designed with sustainability in mind, this retro-modern light fixture uses an energy-saving light bulb that emits a soft glow of glass-diffused light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retro-modern Lighting:** Opportunity for designers to create contemporary lighting fixtures inspired by retro aesthetics. - **Sustainable Lighting:** Room for innovation in developing energy-saving light bulbs and eco-friendly materials for lamps. - **Handmade Home Decor:** Growing market for artisanal and handcrafted home decor items like the Light Drop lamp. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity lies in designing retro-modern lighting fixtures for interior spaces. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Opportunity to develop energy-efficient light bulbs and sustainable materials for lamp production. - **Artisanal Goods:** Creating and marketing handmade home decor items could tap into the growing demand for unique and eco-friendly products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Ribbed Tubular Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stella-desk-lamp.md) - [Chic Cyberpunk Sunset Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-sunset-lamp.md) - [Whimsical Glass Bubbled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peeka.md) - [Minimal Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp.md) - [Luxurious Futuristic Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futuristic-table-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md)
