His light drawings, permanent artwork in public places, [sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sail-light), and photography date back to the disco era of the 1970's. I absolutely love these light drawings! **Implications** - It must be the childlike wonder and amusement that remains in us that makes light painting so intriguing. The unique images that use light painting resemble the glow of a carnival or circus. They remind the viewer of a simple time when the world was an enchanted and carefree place, a reminder of the magic that children see in the ordinary. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Light Painting:** There is a growing trend in using light to create unique and captivating artwork, providing disruptive innovation opportunities in the art and photography industries. - **Urban Art:** The use of urban environments as a canvas for artistic expression is becoming increasingly popular, presenting disruptive innovation opportunities for artists, architects, and urban planners. - **Nostalgia-inspired Art:** Art that evokes feelings of nostalgia for simpler times is gaining popularity, creating disruptive innovation opportunities in the art and design industries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art:** Light painting and urban art present disruptive innovation opportunities for artists to explore new mediums and techniques. - **Photography:** The use of light painting techniques in photography offers disruptive innovation opportunities for photographers to create unique and memorable images. - **Design:** The growing popularity of nostalgia-inspired art opens up disruptive innovation opportunities for designers to incorporate elements of the past into modern aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Festive Light Painting Techniques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-painting-1.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Interactive Colorful Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-hockney-bigger-closer.md) - [Illuminated Curtained Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md)
