# Light-Transmitted Wi-Fi Internet Connectivity Through Light Looks to be Likely By Michael Plishka | Published 2014-02-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifi-internet-wifi-networks References: [bbc](http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26245544) & [purelifi](http://purelifi.co.uk/) It seems that [WiFi access](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ee-full-fibre-broadband) is never around when you need it. So what do we do? Typically we look to see if there’s a [local network](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tl-wr3002x) that we can tap into and hope for the best. Thanks to the folks at pureLiFi, this experience could soon be a thing of the past. LiFi, Light Fidelity, is the younger cousin to WiFi. By using a [flickering LED light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-ceiling-light-ultra) (the flickering is undetectable to the naked eye,) information can be communicated via the light itself. This means that if there’s a light source by you, that could very well be used as a portal to access the internet.
