# Ladder-Like Seating This Lifeguard Chair Gives the Sitter a Sense of Comfort and Security By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifeguard-chair References: [muuuz](http://muuuz.com/magazine/rubriques/design/46520-yoin-design-crafts-pool-chair.html) & [yoin-design](http://www.yoin-design.com/projects/poolchair/) This lifeguard chair was inspired by the experience of doing lengths and getting out of a swimming pool. The designer describes the sense of security offered by the ladder on the edge, providing an easy escape from the water when necessary. This peace of mind and comfort felt about a simple object is carried over into an item of a very different sort. This [dry land stool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedeo-chair) comprises a [tubular metal structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair) with a pair of handles and two rungs on one side. A pale wooden platform provides a place to rest, and a gently curving lip references the smooth deck of a natatorium. The Yoin Design Pool Chair has character, yet it's still [minimalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitter-chair), making it easy to incorporate into a wide range of rooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Design:** Integrating minimalist design principles into various products and industries can provide a sleek and versatile aesthetic. - **Enhanced Comfort:** Prioritizing comfort in the design of seating and furniture can improve the overall user experience and satisfaction. - **Incorporating References:** Incorporating references to familiar objects or environments can create a sense of nostalgia or familiarity in new and innovative designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore ways to incorporate minimalist design and enhance comfort to create innovative seating solutions. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize minimalist design principles and incorporate references in their designs to create unique and inviting spaces. - **Hospitality:** Hospitality businesses, such as hotels and restaurants, can adopt minimalist design and prioritize comfort in their seating arrangements to create a relaxing and pleasing environment for guests. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Water-Friendly Outdoor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soleil-adirondack-chair.md) - [Drink-Holding Outdoor Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lago-lounge-chair.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Outdoor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-outdoor-lounge.md) - [Minimal Outdoor Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bask-lounge.md) - [Soothing Boat-Like Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canoa-chair.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Contemporary Quick-Dry Patio Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-lounge-chair.md) - [Traditional Vibrant Outdoor Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/net-lounge.md) - [Vibrant Chaise Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/versarest.md)
