# Landscape-Blending Abodes The Life House Cleverly Blends Into the Scenery With its Dark Exterior By M | Published 2016-04-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-house References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/life-house/) & [johnpawson](http://www.johnpawson.com/works/life-house/) The [Life House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metabolic-testing-device) is a home located in Llanbister that creatively is designed to [blend into the landscape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-av) with a black exterior that mirrors the dark colors of the vegetation and natural neutral color palette of the surroundings. Despite the darken exterior, the interior of the home is contrastingly decorated in light white hues to create a juxtaposition between the two. While many house designs focus on making the abode stand out with a striking appearance, the Life House goes against the grain with an exterior that mirrors the setting. This allows the home to blend into the background with a structure made from dark colors such as handmade bricks, timber wood and moor grass. Contrastingly, the interior of the home features a calm white color palette that brings brightness and light into the space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Nature-sympathetic Design:** There is a trend towards designing buildings that blend seamlessly with the natural landscape to create a harmonious relationship with nature. - **Juxtaposing Color Palettes:** Designers are exploring the potential of contrasting light and dark color schemes to create visually striking and unique spaces. - **Sustainable Building Materials:** With a greater emphasis on environmentalism, there is a growing trend towards using eco-friendly building materials that enhance rather than harm the natural landscape. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects and designers have an opportunity to develop new techniques and strategies for designing buildings that seamlessly blend into the natural environment. - **Construction:** Builders can take advantage of sustainable and eco-friendly building materials to create structures that have a smaller ecological footprint and are more in line with nature. - **Real Estate:** Real estate agents can market homes with eco-friendly features and designs that appeal to environmentally-conscious buyers who want to live in harmony with nature. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Landscape-Integrated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-grove.md) - [Forest Lantern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iside-home.md) - [Leaf-Inspired Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaf-house-1.md) - [Landscape-Blending Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-pastizal.md) - [Hillside Embedded Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-slope.md) - [Terraced Light Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-under-the-poplars.md) - [Dual Tonal Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/svart-hus.md) - [Spacially Contrasting Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barwon-heads-house.md) - [Garden-Connected Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-waverley-house.md)
