# Literary Feature Walls Library House Was Designed Around the Necessity for Expansive Book Storage By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-house References: [blog.leibal](http://blog.leibal.com/interiors/residential/library-house/) & [shinichiogawa](http://www.shinichiogawa.com/) The [Library House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroom-library) is an exceptionally spacious [Japanese dwelling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oku-house) that's been designed without any need to take an extraordinary scale. Some of the home's most important activities have been brought together between the four walls of a single room, boasting incredible six-meter ceilings. Even with the generous square footage of this space, its contemporary whitewashed paint job, flooring and its matching blanched furnishings, what you'll notice is the impressively large [built-in storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-nooks) that covers one entire enormous mural. The rows and columns of cubbies cater to the client's vast collection of books and love of reading, showcasing the pair of these in the form of a practical and spectacular feature wall. The contemporary and nearly minimalist character of Shinichi Ogawa & Associates' Library House is consistent in its block-like, featureless white exterior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Expansive Storage Systems:** Opportunity for developing innovative storage solutions that maximize space and provide functionality. - **Feature Walls:** Chance to create visually striking and functional walls that serve as a focal point in interior design. - **Minimalist Architecture:** Demand for architectural designs that embody simplicity, cleanliness, and functionality. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to create unique and functional spaces - **Storage Solutions:** Potential for companies to develop innovative storage systems that optimize space utilization - **Architecture:** Demand for architects skilled in creating minimalist and functional designs ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reading-Focused Compact Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-tiny-house.md) - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Modern Multi-Purpose Japanese Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muiltipurpose-japanese-building.md) - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Concrete Block-Formed Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blockwall-house.md) - [Traditional Japan-Honoring Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/c4l-house.md) - [Angled Concrete Forest Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/block-wall-house.md) - [Architectural Library Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-nooks.md) - [Perforated Shadow-Casting Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mariams-library.md)
