# Modern Leaning Desk Lights The Levity LED Lamp from Peter Stathis is Functionally Minimalist By Michael Hines | Published 2012-01-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levity-led-lamp References: [designbuzz](http://www.designbuzz.com/levity-led-lamp-desk-clutter-free.html) & [peterstathis](http://peterstathis.com/) The Levity LED Lamp is a functionally minimalist work desk illuminator from designer Peter Stathis. This lamp features two standard power plugs and an LED bulb. The true draw of Stathis' latest design is its minimalist look and its ability to retract into itself. The Levity LED Lamp can be pushed into itself to save space whenever you aren't using it. When you do want to use it, simply pull the lamp up from its head. The legs can be bent forward and backward and the light provided is ample without being overwhelming. Minimalism has virtually taken over all aspects of contemporary interior design. These no-frills furnishings are great, but they are often minimalist in terms of looks. What sets Stathis' Levity LED Lamp apart is that it's functionally minimalist. The simplistic design enhances how the lamp looks in addition to how it works. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Functionally Minimalist Design:** Design-focused businesses can explore creating products that combine simplicity and functionality to enhance both aesthetics and usability. - **Space-saving Solutions:** Innovative companies can develop compact and retractable designs to optimize space usage and improve convenience for users. - **Minimalism in Interior Design:** Interior design firms can capitalize on the growing trend of minimalism by creating stylish and sleek furnishings that blend seamlessly into contemporary spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture manufacturers can embrace functional minimalism by incorporating space-saving features into their designs. - **Lighting:** Lighting companies can innovate by offering retractable and adjustable lamps that seamlessly integrate into modern workspaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior design firms can leverage minimalism as a key selling point and offer clients furniture and lighting solutions that align with minimalist aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Demure Designer Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designer-desk-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Workstation Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-lamp-concept.md) - [Energy-Saving Minimalist Desktop Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desktop-lamp.md) - [Dynamically Customizable Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illum-desk-light.md) - [Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leda.md) - [Storage-Friendly Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-lamp.md)
