The installation is created entirely out of [tiny wooden blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-triennale-museum), each carefully cut into perfect squares of varying sizes. Veluw covered the walls, furniture, and even himself in these wooden blocks, rendering every other color invisible. Once Veluw is in disguise, he sits at his [wood-covered desk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mise-en-abymes) and attempts to burn it with a cigarette lighter. Veluw explains to viewers that this installation is a re-enactment of his childhood, when he spent a lot of time by himself in his room. Levi van Veluw's Origin of the Beginning installation is magnificent for its use of materials, as well as its grim background story. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Live Arts](https://www.trendhunter.com/livearts) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wooden Installations:** Opportunity for artists to explore new and unconventional materials in their installations. - **Self-portraits:** Artistic expression through innovative self-portrait mediums. - **Childhood Re-enactments:** Exploration of personal memories and experiences through artistic installations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Opportunity for artists to push boundaries and create unique installations using unconventional materials. - **Furniture:** Incorporation of wooden elements and textures for unique and visually appealing furniture designs. - **Photography:** Exploration of self-portrait mediums and storytelling through photography. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [Cultural Wood Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-cloth-object.md) - [Time-Layered Wood Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/age-of-wood.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Cultural Identity Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/host-exhibition.md) - [Wooden Light-Hearted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-sculpture.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Brick-Centric Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-collection.md)
