This Japanese lettuce-growing vending machine grows salad greens with fluorescent bulbs instead of sunlight and can produce more than 20,000 heads of lettuce a year. It's good to know that even in a nuclear winter, we can grow lettuce.

The portable florescent lettuce-growing vending machine is being marketed by [Dentsu Facility Management Inc.](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/this-campaign-sucks) under the name "Chef's Farm." It sells for about $90,000. Marketing is targeted to restaurants that want to include [on-premise produce production](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balconyfarm-pot) in their offerings.

**Implications** - The company's marketing is unique to say the least, as per their website, "This is how we shall grow produce in the post-apocalyptic future," says a statement.
