The vague subject matter behind the sculpture may be interpreted subjectively by the audience but the disturbing sensation it creates is a universal one. The mounted human figure is covered in faint army green with his mouth open. It looks as though the disease has almost covered his whole body as the artist has left sporadic spots on the head uncontaminated. The artist presents the work in varying compositions by placing [large complex objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu) in the figure's open mouth that looks like an oddly tangled tree root. The work overall is intriguing for its unexplanatory composition, raw figurine as well as its [disturbing coloring and composition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Disturbing Sculptures:** Exploring the creation of unsettling sculptures that evoke a universal sense of discomfort. - **Subjective Interpretation:** Encouraging art pieces that allow for subjective interpretation, creating diverse and personal experiences for viewers. - **Raw Figurines:** Embracing the use of unpolished and unrefined materials in the creation of figurative sculptures. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Sculpture:** Opportunity for artists and sculptors to push boundaries and explore unconventional and thought-provoking concepts. - **Interior Design:** Potential for incorporating disturbing sculptures into interior design schemes as statement pieces that spark conversation and challenge aesthetic norms. - **Therapeutic Art:** Utilizing disturbing sculptures as a means of expression and exploration in therapeutic art practices, allowing individuals to confront and process uncomfortable emotions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Health Object Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/out-of-orifice.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Medicine-Inspired Artful Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/something-for-the-pain.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md)
