The camera is built by hand in Germany to maintain an attention to high-quality detail and features the Leica M rangefinder with a 0.72x magnification, while still only offering 1/1,000th max shutter speed. The [fully mechanical shutter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lomography-lomo-mca) offers a gratifying experience with every press, while the light meter displays proper exposure with a simple red dot. The new Leica M6 is priced at $5,295 and boasts a metallic top base machined out of solid brass with reinforcement from an abrasion-resistant lacquer. This replaces the previous die-cast zinc material to further modernize the photography piece. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 13% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modernized Classic Cameras:** The trend towards modernizing classic cameras presents an opportunity for companies to appeal to both classic photography enthusiasts and modern consumers. - **Hand-built Craftsmanship in Electronics:** The trend towards handcrafted electronics presents an opportunity for disruption in the typically mass-produced electronics industry, appealing to consumers who desire high-quality, unique products. - **Gratifying User Experience in Mechanical Devices:** The trend towards gratifying user experiences in mechanical devices presents an opportunity for companies to differentiate their products in a world increasingly dominated by digital technology. ### Who This Affects Most - **Camera Manufacturing:** Manufacturers of classic cameras can capitalize on the trend towards modernization by upgrading and improving upon their classic designs. - **Handcrafted Electronics:** Companies can disrupt the electronics industry by offering handcrafted, high-quality products that appeal to consumers who are tired of the typical mass-produced electronics available on the market. - **Mechanical Device Manufacturing:** Manufacturers of mechanical devices can differentiate their products by focusing on creating gratifying user experiences, appealing to consumers who value tactile experiences in a world dominated by digital technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Platinum-Plated Anniversary Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-m-edition-70.md) - [Rangefinder-Free Premium Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-m-ev1.md) - [Celebratory Centenary Camera Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-m11d-100-years-of-leica.md) - [Analogue-Like Digital Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-m11d.md) - [Titanium Point-and-Shoot Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-ma-titan.md) - [Compact Triple Resolution Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/m11.md) - [Gilded Collaboration Camera Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-mp-unique-gold.md) - [Retro Monochromatic Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/m11-monochrom.md) - [Monochrome Sensor Digital Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensor-digital-camera.md)
