# Building Block Blood Suckers The Giant LEGO Vampire Helps Kick Off the Halloween Season By Wes Walcott | Published 2012-10-07 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-vampire References: [kotaku](http://kotaku.com/5948827/this-is-apparently-the-worlds-tallest-lego-vampire) & [lego](http://www.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx) Ushering in the Halloween season, [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horror-poster) helped New Orleans kick things off with a bang by inviting citizens assist in the construction of a massive [LEGO Vampire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-exhibition). Based on a character from LEGO’s new [Monster Fighters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonspell-magic-by-monster-high) line, the building block vampire was put together under the cover of night and set against the backdrop of Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral to give it an extra-spooky vibe. When it was completed, the blood sucker stood at 12 feet tall and set a world record for being the tallest LEGO vampire ever created. While it’s certainly an obscure record to break, be thankful that LEGO didn’t decide to ride the coattails of Twilight's popularity and opted for a more traditional vampire as opposed to a brooding, handsome Edward Cullen type. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Giant LEGO Structures:** There is an opportunity to create more impressive and record-breaking LEGO structures for various events and occasions. - **Halloween Events:** There is an opportunity to integrate LEGO building activities and structures into Halloween events for fun and interactive experiences. - **Monster-themed Products:** There is an opportunity to create more socially-accepted monster-themed products for young children to play with and enjoy. ### Where This Applies - **Event Planning:** Event planners can incorporate giant LEGO structures into various events to add an element of surprise and fun. - **Toy Manufacturing:** Toy manufacturers can explore the idea of creating more monster-themed products for children to play with that are not too scary or inappropriate. - **Tourism:** Tourism industries can create Halloween-themed tours or attractions that involve giant LEGO structures or building activities for families to enjoy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Witty Toy-Brand Horror Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horror-poster.md) - [Novel-Inspired Puzzle Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cullen-house.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Halloween Series Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nightmare-before-christmas-set.md) - [Monster-Honoring Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/godzilla-lego.md) - [Life-Size LEGO Brick Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1950s-cadillac-fleetwood.md) - [30-Foot Tall Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/megasize-roxie.md) - [Spooky Show-Themed LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/netflix-series-wednesday.md) - [Historical Architecture Game Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-notre-dame-set.md)
