# Movie-Inspired Trains This Fan-Made LEGO Train from Back to the Future Part III is Impressive By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-03-10 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-train References: [geekologie](http://geekologie.com/2013/03/back-to-the-future-iiis-time-traveling-t.php) & [lego.cuusoo](http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/35422) Even if you had a [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bica-funicular) train set as a kid, I guarantee it wasn't as cool as this one. Full disclosure, I had a LEGO train set as a kid, and I pretty much spent my entire time with it recreating the climax from Back to the Future Part III. Apparently I wasn't the only one either. This awesome Back to the Future LEGO train set comes from the Cuusoo website community of LEGO builders, specifically the [Team BTTF Cuusoo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/team-bds-1) community. People who like the set can use the Cuusoo website to voice their support for new LEGO sets, and the idea is that a Cuusoo project with enough support will get a real manufactured LEGO set. Now I need to go fish out my old LEGO set out of the closet and relive the adventures of Marty and Doc Brown for myself. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fan-made LEGO Trains:** Creating fan-made LEGO train sets based on popular movies and TV shows could lead to opportunities for innovative designs and collaborations with production studios. - **Crowd-sourced Product Ideas:** The Cuusoo platform provides a model for seeking customer feedback and support for product ideas, with potential applications in a range of industries. - **Nostalgia-inspired Toys:** The popularity of retro-inspired toys like LEGO train sets could drive growth in the traditional toy industry and inspire new versions of classic toys. ### Where This Applies - **Toy Industry:** Toy companies could leverage the popularity of fan-made LEGO train sets and nostalgia-driven toys to create new product lines. - **Movie and TV Production:** Collaborating with LEGO communities to create official tie-in products could be a way for production studios to engage with fans and extend the life of their properties. - **Crowd-sourcing Platforms:** Crowd-sourcing platforms like Cuusoo could expand beyond the toy industry to allow for customer input and collaboration in product development across a range of sectors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Railway-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bica-funicular.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Fandom-Honoring Building Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fandomhonoring-building-block-sets.md) - [Nostalgic Movie Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/willy-wonka-the-chocolate-factory-lego.md) - [Nostalgic Film-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boos-door.md) - [Festive Brick Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whoville-moc.md) - [Movie-Inspired LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indiana-jones-lego-sets.md) - [Sci-Fi Series Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-stranger-things.md) - [Insanely Intricate LEGO Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-rollsroyce.md)
