# Meticulous Toy Modeling Kits The LEGO Technic Unimog is a 2,000-Piece Beast By Jason Soy | Published 2011-06-06 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-unimog References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/lego-technic-unimog-u-400/18798/) & [technicbricks.blogspot](http://technicbricks.blogspot.com/2011/02/2h11-lego-technic-unimog-shows-up-at.html) [Mercedes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mercedesamg-w14-e-performance) and [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liebherr-crawler) have teamed up to create this LEGO Technic Unimog, LEGO's largest and most ambitious Technic vehicle kit with over 2,000 pieces to assemble. Fans looking for a fun new project or hoping to learn the inner workings of this multipurpose vehicle will have the time of their lives putting together this purchasable technical marvel. LEGO's Technic line has always been a handy tool for teaching up-and-coming engineers, but with the LEGO Technic Unimog, they've really outdone themselves by giving customers a toy with almost as much functionality as the actual vehicle itself. Yes, everything you see on the behemoth of a vehicle is electrically powered and can be fully manipulated by the user. I may be getting old because back in my time, I was totally happy with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy being able to throw a basketball. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Educational Toy Kits:** Creating detailed toy kits that teach kids (and adults) complex engineering concepts, and motor skills - **Interactive Toy Experiences:** Developing toys that go beyond passive entertainment, and instead involve having electrically powered functionality - **Realistic Toy Creations:** Crafting toys modeled after real-world cars and other vehicles that allow fans to interact with and gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the machinery ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Toy Manufacturing:** Innovating toy designs to incorporate both educational aspects as well as interactivity, to create unique and engaging experiences - **Engineering Education:** Developing kits and tools that help teach engineering concepts in an engaging and creative way - **Automotive Industry:** Collaborating with toy companies to create scaled-down versions of real-life vehicles with electrically powered features, hereby creating an immense promotion opportunity ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intricate Technical Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liebherr-crawler.md) - [Block Puzzle Car Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mercedesamg-w14-e-performance.md) - [Ultra-Intricate Motorcycle LEGOs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorcycle-lego.md) - [Car-Inspired Intricate Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classic-defender.md) - [Hyper-Detailed Motorbike Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-bmw-m-1000-rr.md) - [Opulent Off-Road Kids Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mercedesbenz-unimog-kids-car.md) - [Highly-Detailed Race Car Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-mclaren-formula-1-race-car-set.md) - [Hypercar Replica Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-mclaren-p1.md) - [Space Vehicle-Inspired Model Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-nasa.md)
