# Toy Film Projectors The LEGO Technic Super-8 Movie Projector Uses Toy Blocks to Show Blockbusters By Jason Soy | Published 2011-05-17 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-technic-super-8-movie-projector References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2011/05/16/impressive-lego-technic-super-8-movie-projector/) & [vimeo](http://vimeo.com/20107617) There truly is nothing you can’t build with [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popcorn-machine-1) and this LEGO Technic Super-8 Movie Projector proves just that. Boasting that its only non-Lego parts are its lens, lamp and reel spindles, this home project has its important mechanical parts built from pieces commonly found at any kid’s toy store. Friedemann Wachsmuth, the creator of this toddler toy movie viewer, states, “The projector uses just two engines and is fully featured with automatic feeding, 24 fps, fast rewind and 120m reel capabilities.” It's essentially a full-fledged Super-8 movie projector, minus the fancy metal parts usually used in constructing one. Next time you accept a [LEGO build-off challenge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-fan-build), make sure you’re not competing against an engineer. Otherwise, you might end up facing someone who builds a LEGO Technic Super-8 Movie Projector and feel diminutive with your LEGO house and LEGO people. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **LEGO Technic:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the potential of using LEGO Technic components to create functional and complex machines for various industries. - **Toy-based Engineering:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop educational programs and toys that encourage children to learn engineering and problem-solving skills through hands-on construction projects. - **DIY Movie Projectors:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create affordable and user-friendly DIY movie projector kits that can be assembled using common materials, empowering individuals to enjoy nostalgic movie experiences at home. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Toy Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate technological advancements, such as LEGO Technic components, into traditional toy manufacturing processes to create interactive and educational toys. - **Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with educators and toy manufacturers to develop educational programs and toys that promote STEM learning through hands-on activities. - **Home Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the market for affordable and customizable DIY movie projector kits that allow individuals to recreate the cinema experience in their own homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D Puzzle Popcorn Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popcorn-machine-1.md) - [Functional Building Block Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-zh1.md) - [Antique-Style Building Block Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-led-lamp.md) - [Block Puzzle Microscope Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/functional-microscope.md) - [Retro-Inspired Toy Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-atari-2600.md) - [Bold Bauhaus-Inspired Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-cine-play.md) - [Video Projector Camera Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photo-creator-video-projector-camera.md) - [Tech-Driven Building Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-9.md) - [Old Film-Honoring Puzzle Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tribute-camera.md)
