# Building Block-Infused Portraits Nathan Sawaya's LEGO Pictures Put Realistic LEGO into Reality By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-04-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-pictures References: [123inspiration](http://www.123inspiration.com/in-pieces-realistic-lego-sculptures-hidden-in-photos/) & [brickartist](http://brickartist.com/) These incredible [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-luggage) pictures by Nathan Sawaya cross the [beloved building block toy company](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-9) with real life. The combination has led to a fun guessing game that may trick your brain. Each one of the LEGO pictures contains an impressively realistic LEGO build implemented into everyday scenery. Some of the constructs include a lovely red dress, a bathing towel and a pair of flip flops. I won't spoil the rest, because it is fun to try and find the LEGO items within the pictures. It's interesting to see the playful toy company seen in such a sophisticated light. It fits in quite well with this cultured and artistic project. The project was done in collaboration with the photographer Dean West. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Building Block-infused Art:** Opportunity for artists to use building blocks in creating realistic art pieces and blur the lines between real and imaginary worlds. - **Toy-based Realism:** Experts in various forms of art could experiment with using popular toys in their realistic art projects and create a new niche. - **Toy-inspired Interactive Experiences:** Game developers could use this idea to create fun interactive experiences that blend the real and virtual worlds. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity for existing toy companies or startups to create building blocks with higher level of details and realism. - **Art and Photography:** Opportunity for artists to use toys as a new medium for their art, while photographers could experiment with using toys to enhance their photos. - **Digital Gaming:** Opportunity for game developers to create a new genre of interactive experiences that use toys and real world spaces as the main focus. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building Block-Inspired Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-luggage.md) - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [Lego-Centric Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-my-world.md) - [Building Block Launderettes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/launderette-of-dream.md) - [Building Block Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-of-the-brick.md) - [Contemporary Art Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-art-building-set.md) - [Building Block Art Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-project-create-together.md) - [Building Block-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-room-copenhagen.md) - [Iconic Painting-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/girl-with-a-pearl-earring-1.md)
