# Belting Bricked Singers LEGO Freddie Mercury Pays Homage to the Iconic Musician By Matt Ho | Published 2011-11-26 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-freddie-mercury References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/11/23/freddie-mercury-in-lego/) & [thelivingbrick](http://www.thelivingbrick.com/2011/11/fried-chicken.html) One of the best homages that I've seen for Queen's [late vocalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aaliyah-barbie) is this LEGO Freddie Mercury, created by the talented Ochre Jelly. November 24th is the day that Mercury died due to complications from AIDS. In honor of one of rocks greatest vocalists, Ochre decided to pay tribute by immortalizing him in bricked form. The LEGO Freddie Mercury is a very accurate piece of the frontman that clearly shows the dedication involved in building it. The figure displays Mercury in his iconic yellow regal yellow jacket holding his scepter-like microphone stand singing passionately into the mic. The LEGO Freddie Mercury is an incredible tribute to the classic rock vocalist. Hopefully more [LEGO rock stars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-moc) will follow. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **LEGO Musician Tributes:** LEGO models of famous musicians are becoming increasingly popular, presenting opportunities for innovative designs that pay homage to music icons. - **Brick Artistry:** Artists are creating intricate and accurate depictions of real-life figures using LEGO bricks, opening up possibilities for new forms of visual art. - **Nostalgic Remakes:** The recreation of cultural and historical figures using LEGO bricks is gaining popularity, providing opportunities for products that evoke feelings of nostalgia and sentimentality. ### Where This Applies - **Toy and Collectible Industry:** The popularity of LEGO musician tributes and brick artistry presents opportunities for toy and collectible companies to create new and innovative products within this niche. - **Art and Design Industry:** The emergence of brick artistry and accurately detailed LEGO models provides opportunities for artists and designers to create new art forms using the iconic toy. - **Entertainment Industry:** Recreating cultural and historical figures using LEGO bricks could open opportunities for entertainment companies to produce new forms of content, such as documentaries, feature films or TV series. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building Block Musician Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daft-punk-lego-helmets.md) - [Insanely Intricate LEGO Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-rollsroyce.md) - [Theater Set-Inspired Puzzle Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-hamilton-musical.md) - [Iconic Artist Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-bob-ross.md) - [Vintage Puzzle Gramophones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-gramophone.md) - [Blockish Music Tour Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-eras-tour-poster.md) - [Trophy-Inspired Puzzle Bricks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gramophone.md) - [Building Block Band Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-art-the-rolling-stones.md) - [Collectable Singer-Honoring Coins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/george-michael-coin.md)
