# Building Block Weaponry The LEGO Collection by Futura Displays Some Destructive Delights By Alex Scott | Published 2010-03-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-collection-by-futura References: [hypebeast](http://hypebeast.com/2010/03/futura-legos/) Everyone knows that the coolest possible thing you can build from [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gotham-city-skyline-set) is a gun. It's that much cooler, however, when those guns were based on a hit summer blockbuster like [District 9](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/assistive-mobility-technologies). The LEGO collection by [Futura](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/idols-of-smoke) features some pretty neat destructive devices. The first few frames you see in the gallery are from his take on the movie's weapons. You have to admire him for keeping with those building blocks for this long. I gave up long ago when I realized I couldn't build anything past the pre-written instructions. Ah well, I'd rather just sit back and admire the LEGO collection by Futura anyway. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **LEGO Weaponry:** Building weapons using Legos for recreational or educational purposes. - **DIY Weapons:** Building weapons or weapon replicas out of easy-to-use materials such as Legos. - **Movie-inspired Builds:** Creating builds or replicas based on popular films using Legos. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Toy Industry:** Manufacturing toys such as building blocks for recreational or educational purposes. - **Education:** Using creative building activities like Lego building to teach children engineering and problem-solving skills. - **Entertainment Industry:** Making movies, TV shows and video games that promote creativity and building with toys such as Legos. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Buildable 3D Superhero Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gotham-city-skyline-set.md) - [Retro Space-Themed Puzzled Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-carter.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Building Block-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-room-copenhagen.md) - [Reimagined Epic Battle Dioramas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-diorama.md) - [Building Block Musician Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daft-punk-lego-helmets.md) - [Sci-Fi Franchise Logo Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbuilt-star-wars-logo.md) - [Sci-Fi Film Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-icons-project-hail-mary-set.md) - [Sci Fi-Inspired Desk Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightsaber-lego.md)
