# Inky Literary Illustrations Leela Wagner Depicts Sherlock Holmes in Rustic Painting Style By Jason Soy | Published 2012-02-26 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leela-wagner References: [toerning.deviantart](http://toerning.deviantart.com/gallery/) & [leelawagnerrbonmade](http://leelawagner.carbonmade.com/) If you’re a fan of the BBC show Sherlock, you’ll have no problem identifying the scenes in these Leela Wagner illustrations. Being an avid fan herself, she’s voluntarily rendered several cartoony depictions of Sherlock and Watson in her trademark inky style. The results, as you can see, are nothing short of breathtaking. Leela Wagner is currently a student of Rhode Island School of Design, but it’s pretty clear from these images that she already has solid illustrative skills. Her control over watercolors is impeccable, as every brush stroke appears calculated and purposeful in conveying value and shapes. Her attention to detail is so great that she even painted mirrored reflections off of a glass window. It’s enough to make other aspiring artists jealous. Leela Wagner has also painted a quick doodle of Harry Potter in a similar style to these Sherlock Holmes renderings.
