# Daringly Defined Digitoons These Lee Hasler Illustrations are Intricate By Josh Triantafilou | Published 2012-04-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lee-hasler References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/General-Portfolio/3461511) & [leehasler](http://www.leehasler.com/) Cambridge, UK-based artist Lee Hasler has an eye for punchy designs. This is quite clear when looking through his work. The designs are cast in a [funky, colorful cartoon style](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorama), but incorporate enough detail to keep the viewer busy. Looking at his works, one can't help but feel they are peering into little worlds. The art is intricate, but manages to remain clean and crisp. One can easily distinguish one feature from the other. There is a place for [busy, chaotic designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-are-you-looking-at), but too often such aesthetics overwhelm the viewer. The pieces featured here use [sharp, clean lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection) and well thought out color-schemes to produce defined shapes that work with each other to achieve a harmony of unity rather than compete with one another for the viewers attention. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Intricate Cartoon Illustrations:** Opportunity for artists to create art that combines intricate designs with punchy, colorful cartoon style - **Clean and Crisp Designs:** Opportunity to create designs that are easy to distinguish and do not overwhelm the viewer - **Harmonious Unity:** Opportunity to create designs with well thought out color schemes that work together to achieve a harmonious unity ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can use Hasler's work as inspiration for their own unique designs and illustrations - **Animation and Film:** Animation studios can incorporate similar intricate designs into their cartoons and films - **Marketing and Advertising:** Design firms can create marketing and advertising materials that utilize clean and crisp designs with well thought out color-schemes ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Limited Humorous Art Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-shrigley-1.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Playful Doodle-Emblazoned Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-cox.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Illustration Asset Packs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halftone.md) - [Cheekily Creative Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illustrated-bookmarks.md) - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md) - [Juxtaposing Artful Collaborative Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-galaxy.md)
