# Illuminating Guitar Teachers The Tabber LED Sleeve Lights Up the Fretboard By Sarah Moore | Published 2012-04-06 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/led-sleeve-and-tabber References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/tabber-led-sleeve-guitar-teaching-systems/22063/) & [tabber.co](http://www.tabber.co/) While [tablature notation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coloredmusicsheet) has made learning guitar easier, the LED Sleeve and Tabber systems have decreased that learning curve even more. While tablature shows the exact notes that need to be played on the instrument, it does not include timing or note duration so playing the song may be difficult if the player does not have a great sense of rhythm or does not have access to the original song for reference. Created by Robert Sanchez, the system includes a mobile app and detachable overlay for the guitar. Using the app, one can select a song, [chord progression](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chords-lyrics) or note that they want to play which will then be transmitted to the overlay, which then lights up the specific notes on the fretboard that need to be played. Using a combination of the app and the sleeve will make learning guitar at home much easier and have players shredding like pros in no time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **LED Sleeves:** The Tabber LED Sleeve provides an innovative way to visualize notes on the fretboard, making it easier for guitar learners to play songs. - **Smartphone Apps:** The integration of smartphone apps with guitar learning systems like Tabber opens up new possibilities for interactive and personalized music education. - **Enhanced Guitar Learning:** The Tabber system represents an advancement in guitar education, combining technology and traditional instruments to accelerate the learning process. ### Who This Affects Most - **Music Education:** Music education platforms and tools can explore integrating LED sleeves and smartphone apps to enhance the learning experience for aspiring guitarists. - **Musical Instrument Manufacturing:** Guitar manufacturers can consider partnering with technology companies to develop guitars with built-in LED sleeves, catering to the growing market of beginner guitarists. - **Mobile App Development:** Mobile app developers can create and improve companion apps for guitar learning systems, providing users with intuitive interfaces and new learning features. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digitized Guitar Learning Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-guitar-tutor.md) - [Button-Activated Guitar Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockdreamer-guitarbar.md) - [All-Inclusive Guitar Learning Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar-learning-system.md) - [Interactive Music Learning](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notewize-guitar-lessons.md) - [Braille-Covered Electric Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitar-guitar.md) - [Celestial Smart Bamboo Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natasha-bamboo-smart-guitar.md) - [Connected Ukulele Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-ukulele.md) - [AI-Powered Guitar Pick Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piek.md) - [Effect-Emitting Guitar Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar-gadgets.md)
